As you know a few posts back I started to pay attention to the amount of SOTA's I had worked here at MW0BBU.
This had all started due in part to my decision to go totally QRP from here, and also because a lot of SOTA activations take place on 7.032, 10.118 and 14.062 which are near the CW QRP frequencies.
Of course CW isn't for everyone so there is also a lot of activity on SSB.
Anyway, today is something of a landmark here at MW0BBU...
I have just worked my 100th activator using 5w or less.
This was Martin, DF3MC/p who was on Buchenauer Kopf, DL/BE-032 a 1225m Mountain in the German Alpine region.
Chasing SOTA's has become something of a fixation, and I must admit to finding it real fun too.
SOTA who run the scheme have a very comprehensive web site that gives you all the information you need to have a go. This includes a great SOTA watch spot page, which keeps you updated with all on going SOTA activity, and also any up and coming activations. http://www.sota.org.uk/
Something you may find of interest as well, is the Photo link on the SOTA watch page to the Flickr SOTA group. http://www.flickr.com/groups/sota_pics/
You will find many pictures from activations of summits from around the world, giving you a great insight into what it's like to operate from a mountain top.
Anyway, I can highly recommend having a go, besides it has taken a lot of effort to get there, and it's really appreciated if you can take the time to give a call in.
As ever enjoy the hobby whatever your style.
All the best.
All the best.
73's
Steve...MW0BBU.
